POST COLLEGE SENIOR ADULT STAFF are adults with special skills and experiences in leadership and programs areas (Staff Advisor, Cook, Waterfront Supervisor, Program Director, Adventure Quest Teacher, Arts & Crafts Teacher, etc.)  These are often school teachers, seminary students, self-employed professionals, or retired individuals who are willing to share their time and talents in our summer camping program.


CABIN COUNSELORS  Primary Task:  Live in cabins with campers and have supervision and responsibility for up to 8 youngsters on a round-the-clock basis for six day periods.  Must enjoy working with children, have good group skills, be able to share his/her faith, and lead in devotional and Bible study times.  The ability and willingness to work with volunteer counselors is essential.

Secondary Task:  Counselors will be expected to counsel all camp sessions with the exception of Hispanic Camp.  If counseling services are not needed, assignments will be made within the camp program.  For example – assisting leadership, cabin coverage, music, recreation, working with difficult campers, etc.


CREW LEADERSPrimary Task:  General concern for the execution of all work described for their crews.  Must also maintain responsibility for the work of their crews and provide leadership by example.  Shall have responsibility for scheduling and monitoring crew work hours and days off.

Secondary Task:  Must be willing to give leadership to prayer and Bible study groups or seek learning opportunities while at camp in these areas.


ARTS AND CRAFTS CREW  Primary Task:  Provide teaching to the campers in arts and crafts of various kinds as directed.

Secondary Task:   To staff the snackery whenever it is open and to participate in the registration of campers.  To provide various cleaning functions as needed.  Must be willing to give leadership to prayer and Bible study groups or seek learning opportunities, while at camp, in these areas.


KITCHEN CREW  Primary Task:  To service all meals; to maintain the dining hall and kitchen in a clean manner; to periodically mop, strip, and rewax floors.  Work includes serving, dishwashing, pot cleaning, food preparation, but does not include cooking.

Secondary Tasks:  Must be willing to give leadership to prayer and Bible study groups or seek learning opportunities, while at camp, in these areas.


MAINTENANCE CREW  Primary Task:  To sanitize latrines periodically for each camp, pick up garbage, cut grass, collect linens, blankets, clean cabins between camps, maintain supplies in each unit.  Painting, roofing, moving equipment, laying fences, and sanitizing staff quarters as directed by the Site Manager.

Secondary Task:  Must be willing to give leadership to prayer and Bible study groups or seek learning opportunities, while at camp, in these areas.


WATERFRONT CREW  Primary Task:  To provide for safety and water discipline for free swim time and the use of any water equipment (boats, etc.) offered by the aquatic program of the camp.  To provide swimming and boating lessons for various levels of ability.

Secondary Task:  To maintain cleanliness of the bathhouse, aquatic equipment, docks, rafts, etc.  Painting and general maintenance under the direction of the Site Manager.  Must be willing to give leadership to prayer and Bible study groups or seek learning opportunities, while at camp, in these areas.


ONE –TIME AWARD FOR FIRST AID AND LIFESAVING CERTIFICATIONS

Staffers beginning with recognized current certificates will receive one-time awards as follows:

First Aid $25.00
CPR $25.00
First Aid and CPR $35.00
Lifesavying (ARC/YMCA/BSA) $25.00

 

Service on the summer staff is an opportunity for the individual to make a Christian service contribution.  Additional weeks of elective employment before and after this period may be available.

Cabin Counselors $180 - $200 $1260 - $1400
Crew Leaders $175 - $195 $1225 - $1365
Crew Members $135 - $155 $945 - $1085

Room and board are provided.  Accident protection is also provided through Workman’s Compensation and a personal accident policy.  The resident nurse cares for minor illnesses and injuries.
